Pun Humor
A humorous play on words using both the denotative and connotative meanings of the words. A pun can also be a humorous play on words which sound similar but mean different things.
In this joke, the hat says "you hang aroung" to the tie, and states that he'll "go on ahead.".
Telling the tie to hang around exemplifies a pun. Hanging around has a dual meaning of staying put, and in this context, hanging around someone's neck. Going on ahead has a meaning of going forward, but also sounds like going on a head, which is appropriate in this context. Because of this, this cartoon serves as a good pun example.
